Doodle Project

Azah Skaliskala,
in her journey to doodling the lost Kingdom of Champa.

I dreams to doodle more in Cam's art, architectures and lines. I have started my journey with writing a thesis about Campa History for my first degree at University of Education. The writing progress is started since March 2010 but actually I have been thinking about doing thesis about Campa since I was in second year (2009). Finally I managed to submit my thesis about Campa History with 116 pages and completely binded on November 2010. It was my first step to get closer with Campa history. Thanks to my friend, Abidah for supporting me very much.

What is Campa Kingdom? You can find it at wikipedia or just google it for more info in Malay translate.

I begin to explore about Campa arts and architectures. I search in google engine, finding books at Library of Malaya University, travel to other University's Libraries, National Achieve and get some sources from my Cam friend. Then I started to create doodles based on Campa historical.

The first Campa doodle I made is " Haven't Lost "

Description:

She" is Cham girl, dreaming about her lost kingdom in the past, but she never get to bring her kingdom back...

she only can imagine it, feel it, heart it,

...and believe will all her heart that her kingdom haven't lost as long as she sensing it.

All the lines was inspired from my history books.

I continued my journey to doodle the monument in history of Campa. I was challenged by myself to draw the details on Tower of The Po Klaong Girai. That was the superb artwork I ever done and I like it very much!

This artwork have been submitted into Peti Seni  for the "Himpun Seni" Exhibition at Balai Seni Lukis Negara Malaysia on 21 October 2010.

It got little fans too at Facebook, DeviantArt and Monday Art Day.
I never expected for that, but I'm glad there are some peoples from all over the world love this artwork because that was one of my goals in journey to doodle the Lost Kingdom.

To show the world the doodle Arts about Campa Kingdom :)

I have created the doodle about flower of Campa, Michelia Campacca. Every Kingdoms have their nation flowers, and so the Campa Kingdom. I know this flower is not a kind of famous flower to draw. So many flower doodles I've seen. But I try to create a doodle of this flower with my own way, unique, untypical and fresh :)

 Michelia Campacca on Cellphone Case

In Malaysia it was called by other names :
Chempaka, chempaka merah (Peninsular), champaka (Sabah)

I'm still learning doodles and history about Campa and this is just a beginning of my journey. With a little dreams in my heart, I want this Kingdom alive in my doodle Art. I am Azah Skaliskala in my journey to doodling the Lost Kingdom.

salam. hi AS :)

owh, i heard that before, but I haven't get a chance to deepen about it. Too many subjects that haven't clear. Indeed the Malay History is too mysterious. Even the Campa also included in Malay clump and they have been spread out to all over the world. Sometimes we can't trust the history have been written on books :)

thanks for sharing wth me. I am so interested! yay..! btw, why not leave ur link, i love to drop to see ur lukisan. ^_^
